Abstract:
ÖZET Hamdanû devleti, el-Cezire ve Suriye'de kurulmuş bir Arap hanedanıdır. Hamdanû hanedanı, devlete ismini veren Hamdan b. Hamdun tarafından kuruldu. Hamdan b. Hamdun 890 senesinde Halife tarafından, Mardin'e vali olarak tayin edildi. Hamdan'ın oğlu Abdullah ise yine Bağdat tarafından Musul'a vali olarak tayin edildi. Musul ve Diyarbakır valisi olan Nasıruddevle Hasan, kendi ailesi tarafından yönetimden uzaklaştırılmak istenecek kadar baskıcı biriydi. Hamdanûler, Büveyhiler tarafından 979'da ağır bir yenilgi almasına rağmen, 990'a kadar Musul'da varlıklarını sürdürdüler. Bundan sonra el-Cezire bölgesindeki hâkimiyetleri Ukaylûler ve Mervanûler arasında bölüşüldü. Seyfüddevle Ali ise Halep'ten Kuzey Suriye'yi idare etti. SUMMARY The Hamdanid dynasty was a Muslim Arab dynasty of Al-Jazirah and Syria. The Hamdanid dynasty was founded by Hamdan ibn Hamdun (after whom it is named), when he was appointed governor of Mardin in al-Jazirah by the Abbasid Caliphs in 890. His son Abdallah was in turn appointed governor of Mosul in al-Jazirah and even governed Baghdad. His sons were installed as governors in Mosul and Aleppo. The rule of Hassan Nasir al Daula, governor of Mosul and Diyarbakir, was sufficiently tyrannical to cause him to be deposed by his own family. His lineage still ruled in Mossul, a heavy defeat by the Buyids in 979 notwithstanding, until 990. After this, their area of control in northern Iraq was divided between the Uqailids and the Marwanids. Ali Sayf al Daula ruled Northern Syria from Aleppo, and became the most important opponent of the Byzantine Empire's expansion. His court was a centre of culture, thanks to its nurturing of Arabic literature, but it lost this status after the Byzantine conquest of Aleppo. It was in Sayf al Daula?s honour that the poet al-Mutanabbi. Trouble with the Byzantine Empire increased during Sa?d al Daula?s tenure.
