Abstract:
Research Study on Algae Flora and Water Quality between Atatürk Dam wall and Tunnel Entrance
Area (Şanlıurfa, Turkey). In this study, three stations that determine the physico-chemical properties of
these lakes were selected and analyzed for 2020. Seasonal changes of the three sampling sites of the
lakes were observed. The recorded values range for the three stations; Seki Disk 265-550 cm, water
temperature 3.98-20.24 ºC, electrical conductivity 347-435 μS/cm, total dissolved solids (TDS) 0.226-
0.283 g/l, pH 8.66-9.17, dissolved oxygen 8.49-14.47 mg/l , dissolved oxygen percentage 87.31-1126.9,
silicon 5.53-19.3 mg/l, total nitrogen 27-134 mg/l, total phosphate 0.006-0.191 mg/l, sulfate 18-25 mg/l
and total hardness 165-240 mg/l analysis and measurements were found. The study revealed that there
are significant seasonal differences in some Physico-chemical parameters and as a whole, most of the
parameters differ in the three regions. The seasonal analyzes of chlorophyll-a at three different stations
varied between 5.038-7.876 µg/l.
In the taxonomic study on benthic (epilitic) and phytoplanktons of Atatürk Dam Lake; A total of 263
algae taxa were identified, including 170 Bacillariophyta, 31 Cyanobacteria, 27 Chlorophyta, 23
Charophyta, 10 Miozoa, 1 Euglenophyta, 1 Ochrophyta. In this study, 128 new algae taxa were added
to the algae flora of Atatürk Dam Lake. Together with previous studies, the number of algae taxa found
in Atatürk Dam Lake was 421. Thirty taxa identified in this study were new records for the algae flora
of Turkey.
