Abstract:
Bu çalışmada geç dönem Osmanlı Urfa'sında özellikle Müslüman kadının yaşantısı, sosyo-ekonomik statüsü ve mahrem sınırları incelenmektedir. Tezin ana amacı Urfa kadınının toplumsal hayattaki sınırlarını anlamaya çalışmaktır. Bu sebeple şehrin kadınlara bakan yönüyle sosyal, ekonomik ve mekânsal yönü mercek altına alınmıştır. Böylece kentin imkânlar dâhilinde sunduğu verileri mekân-insan ilişkisi düzleminde kadın perspektifinden açıklamak mümkün olmuştur. Osmanlı mahkeme kayıtları olan şer'iyye sicilleri toplumun her tabakasına mensup insanların dünyasını anlamak için büyük önem taşımaktadır. Urfa şer'iyye sicilleri de zengin muhteviyatıyla yereldeki kadının dünyasını belli ölçüde sunacak önemli ipuçlarını içermektedir. Dolayısıyla çoğunlukla 1845-1915 yıl aralığını kapsayan sicillerin kullanıldığı bu çalışmada özellikle Müslüman Urfa kadını ile ilgili sorunsal çerçeve tespit edildikten sonra metne soru sorarak ve çözümleme yaparak etraflıca bir değerlendirme yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Sicillerden, diğer bazı arşiv kaynaklarından, fetvalardan, seyyahların ve dönemin tanıklarının gözlemlerinden elde edilen veriler Urfa'da kadının geçmişini ele alırken öncesiyle veya güncelle bir devamlılığın ya da kopukluğun olup olmadığı hususunda bizi yönlendirdi. Buradan hareketle ulaştığımız sonuçlar Urfa toplum okumalarına ve Osmanlı dönemi taşra kadınının dünyasını öğrenmeye dair katkı sağlayacaktır. In this study; experience, socio-economic status and intimate borders of Muslim woman in the late Ottoman Urfa are examined. The main aim of the thesis is to try to understand the social life limits of Urfa woman. For this reason, the social, economic and spatial aspects of the city facing the women have been examined. Thus, it was possible to explain the data presented by the city within the scope of the space-human relationship from the perspective of woman. Sharriya records, which are Ottoman court records, have great importance to understand the world of people from every layer of society. With its rich content, Urfa Sharriya registers also contain important clues to present the world of the local woman to a certain extent. Therefore, in this study which mostly covers the period of 1845-1915, the problematic framework related to the Muslim Urfa woman has been determined and a detailed evaluation has been made by asking questions and analyzing the text. Data from the registers, some other archival sources, fatwas, observations of travelers and witnesses of the period guided us in terms of whether or not there is a continuity or a break in the life of woman in Urfa. From this point of view, our results will contribute to the studying of Urfa society and learning the world of Ottoman woman in country life.
