Abstract:
Bu çalışmanın amacı, bir geçiş metali olan krom oksit (Cr2O3) tozlarını farklı oranlarda (ağırlıkça % 0–5) borosilikat cam tozuna ilave ederek, radyasyon zırhlaması amacıyla kullanılabilecek fiziksel ve mekanik özellikleri yüksek camlar üretmektir. Bu amaç için, Borosilikat cam tozu içerisine ağırlıkça % 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 2 ve 5 oranlarında Cr2O3 ilave edildi ve presleme ile pellet şeklinde örnekler üretildi ve ardından örnekler 1330oC'de 10 saat süreyle fırında bir grafit kalıp içerisinde ergitme ve sentezleme işlemleri yapıldı. Üretilen cam örneklerin XRD analizleri yapılmış, Arşimed prensibiyle yoğunlukları ölçülmüş, tahribatsız ultrasonik ölçüm yöntemi ile elastisite modülü, poisson oranı, kesme modülü, hacim modülü gibi elastik özellikleri belirlenmiş ve Mikro-Vickers sertlik ölçüm yöntemi kullanılarak sertlik, gevreklik indeksi ve kırılma tokluğu gibi mekanik özellikleri ölçülmüştür. Ölçümler sonucunda, BS cam örneklerin yoğunluk, sertlik, elastisite modülü, kesme modülü ve hacim modülü değerlerinin Cr2O3 miktarının artışı ile birlikte doğru orantılı olarak arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Örneklerin kırılma tokluğu ağırlıkça % 0.5 Cr2O3 katkı oranına kadar artmış ve bu orandan daha yüksek miktarlarda ise bir miktar azalma meydana gelmiştir. The aim of present study is to produce glasses with high physical and mechanical properties, which can be used for radiation shielding by adding a transition metal chromium oxide (Cr2O3) powders in different contents (0–5 wt%) to borosilicate glass powder. For this purpose, Cr2O3 was added to borosilicate glass powder at 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 2, and 5 wt% amounts, and pressed to form the samples into pellets. Subsequently, the pelletized samples were melted, and synthesized in a graphite mold in a furnace at 1330 ° C for 10 h. XRD analyses of the produced glasses was carried out, densities of their was measured with Archimedes' principle. The elastic properties such as elasticity modulus, poisson ratio, shear modulus, and volume modulus were determined by non-destructive ultrasonic measurement method, and mechanical properties such as hardness, brittleness index and fracture toughness were measured using the Micro-Vickers hardness measurement method. As a result of the measurements, it was determined that the values of density, hardness, elasticity modulus, shear modulus and volume modulus of the glass samples were increased in direct proportion with increasing Cr2O3 amounts. The fracture toughness of the samples increased by up to wt 0.5 wt% Cr2O3 content, and slightly decreased in higher amounts (>0.5 % ).
