Abstract:
Kuraklık, bir iklim fenomeni olarak pek çok sefer ciddi hasara neden olan bir felaket olayıdır. Kuraklığın değerlendirme ve izlemesi, o bölgedeki genişliğini ve sürekliliğini belirlemek için kullanılabilecek göstergelere dayanmaktadır. Bu tezde, Kuzey Irak Bölgesi'nde kuraklık analizi (kuraklık süre ve şiddeti) 1, 3, 6, 9 ve 12 aylık zaman aralıklarında Standardize Yağış İndeksi (SYI) kullanılarak çalışılmıştır. Bu yöntemin özelliği, farklı yer ve ölçeklerdeki bazı kuraklık olaylarını karşılaştırmaya yardımcı olmasıdır. Kuzey Irak'ta kuraklık durumunu, dönemlerini, ciddiyetini ve kuraklık uzunluğunu gözlemlemek için, 1979- 2013 dönemini kapsayan 15 meteoroloji istasyonunun aylık yağış verileri kullanılmıştır. Matlab bilgisayar yazılımında SPI kodu kullanarak, hesaplamalar (SYI) üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, kurak dönemlerin 6, 9 ve 12 aylık dönemlerdeki sürekliliği 1 ve 3 aylık zaman aralıklarından daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Ve hesaplamaya göre, 2008 yılında en kurak yıl gözlenmiştir. Bu analiz Kuzey Irak için oldukça önemlidir. Çünkü bölgenin tüm istasyonları için en uzun kurak ve sulak dönemler hakkında geniş bilgi vermektedir.
Drought is one of the phenomena of climate and is one of the catastrophic events that cause many damages each time. One of the ways of drought adjustment, evaluation and drought monitoring is based on indicators that can be used to determine the extent and continuity of it in a region. In this thesis, the drought analysis (duration, and severity of drought) in North Iraq Region has been studied by using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) for time intervals of 1,3, 6, 9 and 12 months. That feature of this method helps to compare some of the drought events in different places and scales. To observe the dry and wet periods and severity of drought and length of drought the monthly rainfall data of 15 meteorological stations of the northern Iraq provinces, from 1979 to 2013, are used. By using the SPI code in Matlab computer software, calculations are performed on the (SPI). The results of the study showed that the continuity of dry periods in the 6, 9, and 12-month periods was higher than the 1 and 3-time intervals. Moreover, according to the calculation, the driest year was observed in 2008. This analysis is essential because it gives full information about longest dry and wet period for all stations of the region.
