İlköğretim II. kademe öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişki(Şanlıurfa ili örneği) / The relation between the attitudes of the Students from the Second level primary school education towards social sciences and their academic success

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı ilköğretim II. kademe öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırma ile ayrıca, öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarının ?okulun bulunduğu bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik düzeyi?, öğrencilerin ?cinsiyeti?, ?sınıf düzeyleri?, ?annenin eğitim durumu?, babanın eğitim durumu?, ailenin?gelir düzeyi?, ?Sosyal Bilgiler dersine giren öğretmenin cinsiyeti?, ?özel dershane veya öğretmenden Sosyal Bilgiler dersi alma durumu?, ?Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde kullanılan materyal? gibi değişkenlere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı incelenmiştir. Betimsel-tarama modeliyle gerçekleştirilen araştırmada üç ayrı bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Bunlardan ilki öğrencilerin kişisel niteliklerine ilişkin bilgileri içeren ve 10 sorudan oluşan ?Kişisel Bilgi Formu? dur. İkinci form öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarını tespit etmek amacıyla, Şahin ve diğerleri (2000) tarafından geliştirilen `Sosyal Bilgiler Tutum Ölçeği'nden yararlanarak oluşturulan ?Sosyal Bilgiler Dersine İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği?dir. Üçüncü olarak da öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersindeki akademik başarılarını belirlemek amacıyla I. Dönem Sosyal Bilgiler dersindeki karne notunu yoklayan form kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma evrenini 2008-2009 öğretim yılı Şanlıurfa Merkez ilçedeki 63 ilköğretim okulunun 6. ve 7. sınıflarında öğrenim görmekte olan 24.530 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Evrenin geniş olması ve tüm evrene ulaşım güçlüğü dikkate alınarak, örneklem alma yoluna gidilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi belirlenirken, ilköğretim okulları bulundukları çevrenin sosyo-ekonomik düzeyi dikkate alınarak alt sosyo-ekonomik çevreden 6, orta sosyo-ekonomik çevreden 3 ve üst sosyo-ekonomik çevreden 4 okul olmak üzere toplam 13 okul örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Örneklem seçilen okullardaki şube seçimi, random yöntemine göre yapılmış, 6. ve 7. sınıflarda belirlenen birer şubede 25 öğrenciye anket uygulanmıştır. Bu yöntemle belirlenen örneklem grubuna dâhil olan öğrenci sayısı toplam 542 olup, bunların 288'i 6. sınıf, 254'ü 7. sınıf öğrencisidir. Araştırma verilerinin istatistiksel analizinde, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, frekans ve yüzde hesapları yanında t- testi, tek boyutlu varyans analizi, Scheffe ve Dunnett C testleri ve basit korelasyon analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular, ilköğretim II. Kademe öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarının genel olarak ?oldukça katılıyorum? düzeyinde olduğunu göstermiştir. Öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarının; okulun bulunduğu bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik düzeyine, öğrencilerin cinsiyetine, babanın eğitim düzeyine, Sosyal Bilgiler dersine giren öğretmenin cinsiyetine ve Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde kullanılan materyal durumuna göre anlamlı farklılık göstermediği saptanmıştır. Buna karşın öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarının, sınıf düzeyi, annenin eğitim düzeyi, ailenin aylık geliri ve özel dershane veya öğretmenden Sosyal bilgiler ile ilgili ders alma değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu bulgulara göre 6. sınıf öğrencileri 7. sınıf öğrencilerine; annesinin eğitim seviyesi düşük olanlar yüksek olanlara; aylık geliri 1000 TL'nin altında olanlar, aylık geliri 1501 TL ve üstü olanlara; özel dershane veya öğretmenden Sosyal bilgiler ile ilgili ders almayan öğrenciler ders alan öğrencilere göre daha yüksek ve olumlu tutuma sahiptirler. Araştırmada ayrıca öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumları ile akademik başarıları arasında düşük düzeyde, pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu bulunmuştur. Also with this study it is researched that if in accordance to variants such as ?the social ? economic level of the school location?, the students ?gender?, ?the class levels?, ?mothers educational background?, ?fathers educational background?, family?s ?level of income?, ?The gender of the Social Sciences Teacher who is giving lessons?, ?The situation about taking private Social Sciences lessons from Private Training centers or Teachers? any differences are appearing or not about the Students attitude towards Social Sciences. Three different information forms were used in this research which was performed with the descriptive ? scanning model. The first of those forms is the so called ?Personal Information Form? which consists from ten questions covering personal characteristic information. The second one that was prepared according to the ?Social Sciences Attitude Scale? that was developed by Sahin and Others in the year of 2000 is the ?The Attitude Scale Regarding Social Sciences Lessons?. And the third form that was used for estimating the student?s academic success in Social sciences was the form that is examining the students I. Term Social Sciences School Report grades. The working space of this research is established from total 24.530 6th and 7th class students from 63 primary schools located in Merkez Province, City of Sanliurfa, within the I. Term of 2008 ? 2009 Academic Year. The sample point was taken consideringly the hardly accession to the whole space points and the large space. For establishing the sample point the school location?s social ? economic level was beard, and according to this, be about 6 schools from the low social ? economic level, 3 schools from average social ? economic level and 4 schools form high social ? economic level, total 13 schools were chosen as Sample Point. The election of branches in those sample point schools was done according to the random method and the survey was applied to 25 students of one of determined branch of 6th and 7th classes. The total number of students determined by this method is as the sample group is 542, from which 288 are 6th class and 254 are 7th class students. In the statistic analyzes of this study data, beside arithmetic average, standard deviation, frequency and percentage estimations, the t?test, one dimensional variation analyze, Scheffe ve Dunnett C Tests and simple correlation analyze techniques were used. As result obtained by this study it is found out that the general attitude level regarding Social Sciences lesson of the second level primary school education is as ?strongly agree?. It is also found out that according to the social ? economic level of the school location, the genders of the students, father?s educational background, the gender of the Social Sciences Teacher who is giving lessons and the materials used for the Social Sciences lessons are not referring to any differences in the students? attitude regarding Social Sciences lessons. But nonetheless it is shown that in accordance to the variant as the class level, mothers? educational background, family?s monthly income and taking private Social Sciences lessons from Private Training centers or Teachers that there are meaningful differences shown in students? attitude regarding Social Sciences lessons. Regarding this findings the attitudes of 6th and 7th students whose mother?s educational background is lower and with the monthly income below 1.000 TL in comparison of the one?s with the income of 1.501 TL and higher; and the students who do not take Social Sciences private lessons from private teachers or Private Training courses in comparison to the one who do are showing higher and more positive attitudes. It is also found out that there is a very low, positive and meaningful relation between the Students attitude regarding Social Sciences and their academic success.
