Abstract

Bu araştırma, Hz. Peygamber'in verdiği veya değiştirdiği isim, lakap ve künyeleri içermektedir. Araştırmanın temel amacı, Hz. Peygamber'in verdiği veya değiştirdiği isim, lakap, künyeleri tespit etmek ve bunların sebeplerini araştırmaktır. Araştırma sonucunda, putperest bir topluma gönderilen Hz. Peygamber'in, tevhid inancını yerleştirmek maksadıyla, Allah'a (c.c.) kulluğu ifade eden isimleri tercih ettiği, ismin kişi üstündeki etkisine inandığından ashâbına isim, lakap ve künye verirken daima anlamı güzel olanları tercih ettiği, hatta bu bağlamda şehir, belde, arazi, kuyu ve hayvan isimlerine de müdâhale ettiği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca Hz. Peygamber'in, kişide yanlış anlamaya neden olan ve kişiyi kibre sevk edecek anlamı güzel isimleri de daha uygunu ile değiştirdiği, ashâbından çok az bir istisna dışında ona itiraz eden kimsenin bulunmadığı belirlenmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Hz. Peygamber, isim, lakap, künye. This study examines the names, nicknames and patronymic given or changed by the Prophet Muhammed. It aims to find out the names, nicknames and patronymic given and changed by the Prophet and to investigate the reasons lying behind. The study has showed that the Prophet preferred the names indicating the obedience to Allah on the ground of stressing the principles of monotheism, and since the names, nicknames, patronymic have impact on people, he chose the ones which have good meaning and he intervened in the names of city, town, land, well, and animals. Moreover, he replaced the names which may cause to misunderstanding or lead people to arrogance with the ones which are appropriate. In doing so, he did not face opposition except for few.
