Abstract

Bu araştırma, modernleşme, küreselleşme ve din bağlamında Anthony Giddens'ın görüşlerini sosyolojik açıdan incelemektedir. Araştırmanın amacı; Anthony Giddens'ın görüşlerini tespit etmek ve analiz etmektir. Bu bağlamda, modernleşme, küreselleşeme ve din'in insan hayatında ve toplumsal yapıda oluşturduğu etkileri sosyolojik açıdan ayrıca ele alınmıştır.Araştırma sonucunda; Anthony Giddens'ın amacının, günümüz gerçekliğini ayrıntılı bir biçimde analiz edebilecek bir modernlik düşüncesi geliştirmek olduğu; aslında modernliğin bittiği ve postmodern bir döneme girdiği savlarına katılmadığı, Postmodernistlerin iddiasının aksine modernlik sonrası bir dönemde değil, modernliğin kurumsal boyutlarının yeni anlamlar kazandığı, radikalleştiği, evrenselleştiği bir dönemde yaşanmakta olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yine Giddens tıpkı modernlik analizinde yaptığı gibi, küreselleşmeyi de modernliğin kurumsal boyutları üzerinden açıklayarak, ekonomik ya da endüstriyel gelişmeye dayalı, küreselleşme açıklamalarının yetersizliklerini aşmaya çalışmaktadır. Ayrıca, çağımızda, geleneğin çözülerek dönüştüğü, yaşamın gelenek ve dinden koptuğu ve bireyselleşmenin öne çıktığı tespit edilmiştir. Dünyanın küresel bir köye dönüştüğü, toplumların tüketim kültürünün nesnesi konumuna getirildiği, sosyal ilişkilerin ve sosyal yapının ahenkli bir bütün halinde işleyişi için fertlerin ruhunda içselleşmiş bulunan manevi değer ve normların birleştirici ve bağlayıcı gücüyle mümkün olabileceğine dikkat çekilmiştir. This research aims to find out his views and to analyze them. In addition, the impacts of modernization, globalization and religion in the lives of individuals and social structure are studied from a sociological point of view. The study has showed that the aim of Anthony Giddens was to develop an idea of modernity analyzing the reality of this age in details. In addition, it has indicated that he disagreed with the theory that the modern age has ended and the postmodernism has started. It has further underlined that contrary to the claims of the post-modernists, he states that this is still modern era in which the institutions of modernity gain new meanings, becoming radicalized and globalized. As he did in his analysis of modernity, he tries to explain globalization through the institutional dimensions of modernity, and tries to overcome the inadequacies of globalization explanations based on financial and industrial development. Additionally, it has been found out that in contemporary age, tradition is dissolved and transformed; and life is separated from religion and tradition; and the individualism has become widespread. It has also been pointed out that the world has been turned into a global village and societies have become the object of consumption culture. It has been underscored that the binding and the connecting power of moral values and norms which are internalized in the souls of individuals are required for the consistent functionality of the social relations and social structure.
