Seyhan Deltası'nda kıyı çizgisi değişimleri (1950 - 2013) / Coastline changes in Seyhan delta (1950 - 2013)

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye' nin Akdeniz kıyısında yer alan Seyhan Deltası' nda 1950 – 2013 yılları arasında meydana gelen kıyı çizgisi değişimleri ve nedenleri incelenmiştir. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için; 1950 – 2013 yılları arasındaki hava fotoğrafları, uydu görüntüleri analiz edilmiş ve arazi çalışmasıyla kıyı çizgisi değişimlerinin kanıtları ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre; Seyhan Deltası' nda kıyı çizgisinin 1950 – 1956 yılları arasındaki dönemde yaklaşık olarak 70 metre ilerlediği, 1956 yılından 2013 yılına kadar geçen sürede ise yaklaşık 2250 metre gerilediği ortaya konulmuştur. Kıyı çizgisi gerilemesi üzerinde Seyhan Nehri' nden gelen sedimanların Seyhan Barajı' nda tutulması etkili olmuştur. Bu tespitler neticesinde; Seyhan Deltası' nın sadece güncel kıyı çizgisi gerileme oranı temel alınarak yaklaşık 85 yılda düzleşeceği ön görülmüştür. This study examines the causes of coastline changes which occurred in the period of 1950 – 2013 in the Seyhan Delta in the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. In order to accomplish this aim, coastline changes were investigated based on both aerial photos and satellite images in the period of 1950 – 2013 and fieldwork was carried out to find out the probable evidence of the coastline changes in the study region. The results have showed that coastline of Seyhan Delta advanced seaward approximately 70m between 1950 – 1956 time period, while it started to have retreated approximately 2250 m between 1956 – 2013. Seyhan Reservoir have affected coastal erosion rate in Seyhan Delta as it dammed the sediments transported by Seyhan River and its tributaries. Based on these findings it is estimated that, with the current coastal erosion rate, Seyhan Delta will completely smoothen within the next 85 years.
