Bu çalışmada membran teknolojisi ile ilgili genel bilgiler, membran proseslerin işletim şekilleri, membran sistemlerinin çalışma prensibi, çevre mühendisliğindeki uygulama alanları ve membran prosesleri ile ilgili yapılan son çalışmalar bir araya getirilerek bu konuda çalışmak isteyenler için bilgi kaynağı oluşturulacaktır. Dolayısıyla bilimsel çalışmalara ve membran teknolojisinin geliştirilmesine katkı sağlanması planlanmaktadır.
